Osmo oils are natural wood finishes made from plant-based oils and waxes. They are specifically designed to protect and enhance timber surfaces, while at the same time they remain food safe and eco-friendly. They work by penetrating the wood for deep protection while leaving a microporous durable surface suitable for interior and exterior applications.

Polyx®-Oil Original Clear is a superior alternative to traditional polyurethane finishes, specifically designed for use on interior wooden and cork floors, as well as timber furniture and exposed beams. This product offers a robust and clear finish available in four distinct levels of sheen, accommodating diverse aesthetic preferences.

At the core of its efficacy, Polyx®-Oil combines the intrinsic properties of natural oils and waxes which penetrate deep into the timber. This penetration facilitates a durable finish comparable to that achieved with polyurethane, while simultaneously providing an ease of repair and rejuvenation that polyurethane fails to offer. Moreover, a significant advantage of this product is its microporous nature, which allows the timber to breathe. This critical feature ensures that the finish remains resilient against cracking, peeling, or blistering over time.

The product’s formulation underscores a commitment to durability and low maintenance, making it an ideal choice for settings requiring long-lasting timber protection without frequent upkeep. By integrating advanced technology with natural components, Polyx®-Oil Original Clear stands out as a prudent choice for those seeking reliable and aesthetically pleasing timber finishes.

OSMO OVERVIEW

Osmo oils are natural wood finishes made from plant-based oils and waxes. They are specifically designed to protect and enhance timber surfaces, while at the same time they remain food safe and eco-friendly. They work by penetrating the wood for deep protection while leaving a microporous durable surface suitable for interior and exterior applications.

Oils exist for each location. The oils themselves are made from natural oils such as sunflower, soya, linseed and thistle plus a combination of natural waxes. Their key benefit is that they are microporous which allows the wood to breathe and prevents cracking, pilling and blistering.

The products are classified as food safe and non-toxic while strong and they are suitable for kitchens and children’s toys. There are specific ranges for interior and exterior as well as specific ranges to add colour and also products designed for wet areas such as kitchens and nearby kitchen surfaces where a penetrating wood protector oil is available. Popular products in the range include Polyx which is a clear hardwax oil for floors and furniture plus Polyx Raw which is specifically designed to reduce the effect of yellowing in timber.

We also have a range called Top Oil which is designed for kitchen bench tops and furniture as well as a wood wax finish in transparent and intense colours. For outside there are decking oils and also UV oils designed to protect from UV and weather. There is also a full range of maintenance products including products such as Wash and Care, Liquid Wax Cleaner and Maintenance Oil.

Basically the benefit of Osmo is that you’re working with a natural product based on renewables and because it is a combination of oils and waxes it has much greater durability than competing products which generally rely on a single oil. It is the combination of oils and waxes that makes Osmo unique. They enhance the natural appearance of the timber while avoiding developing that plastic look associated with other coatings.

They have much higher durability and stain resistance than competing products and they are easy to spot repair without needing to sand the surface in virtually all instances. The products themselves also have the highest coverage of any oil in this type. Expect a coverage rate three times higher than that of most paints varnishes and floor finishes.

So Osmo is a unique product and because it is made from plant-based oils and waxes it is made to a much higher standard using eco-friendly renewable resources rather than draw it on things from the petroleum industry. The penetration into the wood provides deep protection and provides an excellent microporous durable surface. Check out the Osmo range when you can.
